This is the part where I get all sentimental about the past twelve months. I will post a list of links to my best blog posts from 2005, and then I will sit back in my chair, clutching a sipper of 25-year old tawny port, and bask in the glory of my body of work. \”Gosh darnit. I\’m a pretty gosh darn good writer. I should maybe publish something, maybe.\”
About this time last year, I posted a 2004 recap and IT SUCKED, so I\’m through with that bull plop. Lots of great stuff happened this year, the two most notable personal events being getting a job that doesn\’t make me wish for death via broom handle ass-rape, and stepping up to all-grain brewing. It was a fairly explosive year for web traffic around here despite content output that I would consider moderate at best. 2005 in one sentence: I drank a lot of great beer, and had several fantastic adventures with my elite team of adventurers. Let\’s just leave it at that.
I took some pictures at last week\’s Cheezy Jesusmas Sweater Party, and you can see them here. I also took some pictures from last Friday\’s brewing session, and several of general Xmas festivities, but the only one I bothered resizing is this one of me waiting for some wort to boil:
My brewing assistants on Friday consisted of only Fancy Paul despite several other people expressing interest and verbal semi-commitments. All you assjacks who missed out will get another shot at redemption next weekend. See, I screwed this last recipe up in two ways, so I intend to brew the exact same beer again and get it right this time, damnit. The problem with all the waiting involved in brewing is that you tend to get a little drunky to kill the time. That\’s when mistakes happen. Redemption may be witnessed on Saturday, 1/7. You\’ve been notified.
I\’m going to make some shirts in 2006 and you\’re going to buy several, because they will make you cooler than hail.
I would like to brew a batch of beer per month next year.
This here website needs a GHAT damn overhaul. If there\’s anything you hate and want to see changed, let me know. I\’ll probably do the WordPress 2.0 dance in the near future. I\’ll probably tinker with the layout a lot as well. It will probably get worse before it gets better.
This is already a lot longer than I originally intended. Rather than a list of links, here are some pictures of beers I have enjoyed since mid-November that meet three criteria:
1) I drank them.
2) I did not write reviews about them.
3) I remembered to photograph them.
I hope everyone has a resonable new year.
